How do I import a Product from a product page in Nightjar?

3 min read

In Nightjar, open Products, choose New product → From a link, paste a public single-product page, and select Get product details. Review the details and photos, choose a Main photo, then select Create product. Nightjar brings the page's supported product evidence into one review, saving you from downloading and regrouping those photos individually. The saved Product can then be selected again for future photography.

This creates a reviewed snapshot. Changes to the original page do not automatically update the Nightjar Product.

Import and review the Product

Use a page for one product, rather than a collection, search result, or store homepage. Only add photos you are authorized to use.

  1. Open the link importer. In Products, choose New product, or Create your first product if your Library has none, then From a link.
  2. Retrieve the page. Paste its address into Product link and select Get product details. Retrieving the page does not create a Product or save the retrieved photos as Assets in your Library.
  3. Choose the visual variant if prompted. In Choose a variant, select the color or style you want. Check that the photos in the next screen all show that version.
  4. Review the facts. In Review product, correct the Name, Description, and Dimensions. Keep the description factual, covering material, color, shape, construction, or defining features. Dimensions mean real-world measurements, such as 34 × 26 × 11 cm, not image pixels or a size range such as S–XL. Name is required; description and dimensions can stay blank when you do not have reliable information.
  5. Choose the photos. Keep between 1 and 10 imported photos that help define the item. Include useful angles and details, and deselect unwanted views. You can also add your own photos through Upload or select existing Assets through Library. Keep at least one imported photo selected to complete the link import.
  6. Set the Main photo and create. Choose the clearest defining view and select Make main if it is not already marked Main photo. Select Create product to save the reviewed Product and its imported photos.

Different colorways or styles belong in separate Products. Size-only options can share a Product when their imagery is identical; a different-looking size needs its own evidence.

What happens after import?

The Product retains an Imported from link so you can identify the original page. It is a record of where the import came from, not a live connection. Edit the saved Product when its facts or photos need to change.

If Nightjar recognizes the same source link and visual variant as an existing Product in your Team's Library, it opens that Product instead of creating a duplicate. Re-entering the link does not refresh its contents.

The link import itself does not consume Credits. Creating new images from the saved Product is a separate action.

If Nightjar cannot import the page

Nightjar needs a public page it can safely retrieve. A page opening in your browser does not guarantee import access: Nightjar does not use your browser's cookies, sign in to the store, or bypass password screens and access challenges.

  • The page is blocked or inaccessible: choose New product → Manually and use Upload or Library with photos you are authorized to use.
  • The page contains multiple products or no verified product photos: try the individual product page for the intended variant. If it still fails, create the Product manually.
  • Too many links were checked: wait a few minutes before trying again. If Nightjar says your session ended, sign in again first.
  • A selected photo cannot be saved: the review stays open and marks the failed photo. Retry or deselect it, keeping at least one imported photo selected. A failed import does not leave a partially created Product or partially imported page photos.

If you added separate uploads during review, those are ordinary Library Assets; cancelling Product creation does not undo the uploads.
