How do I create a Photography Style in Nightjar?

To create a Photography Style in Nightjar, open Styles in the desktop sidebar, or Studio → Styles on mobile, then choose New style. Enter a name and description, upload exactly three reference images, and choose Create Style. Nightjar extracts their photographic treatment into a reusable direction for lighting, color, camera feel and mood. You can select that direction for later product images instead of describing the same look each time.

Creating a Photography Style uses no Credits. Generating images with it is a separate action that consumes Credits.

Choose three reference images

Choose three photos that share the look you want to reuse: similar light, contrast, color treatment and mood. They can show different subjects. For example, three softly lit, neutral-toned catalog photos communicate a clearer common direction than a mixture of soft daylight, hard flash and saturated night photography.

The Photography Style captures the photographic treatment; supply the actual product separately when generating. Choose Background, Framing or Pose separately when you need a particular scene, product arrangement or body position.

Create and save the Photography Style

1. Open Styles in the desktop sidebar, or Studio → Styles on mobile, and choose New style.
2. Fill in Style Name and Description. Both are required. For example, name it “Soft daylight catalog” and describe it as “Soft side light, neutral colors, gentle contrast.” These fields help your Team identify the saved direction; Nightjar extracts the look from the reference images.
3. Under Reference Images, drag in three files or click to upload them. The dialog accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF. If you add fewer than three, use Add More. Remove an unwanted preview with its X before replacing it.
4. Check that the counter shows 3/3, then choose Create Style. Wait for creation to finish. The saved Photography Style is available to your Team.

If Create Style is disabled, check that both text fields contain text and that exactly three reference images are present.

Apply it in Create

Open Create and choose the product you want to photograph. On mobile, open Generate → Create. Under Look, open Photography Style and select your saved card. Use Source → My styles to narrow the list to custom Photography Styles.

You can also choose Create Your Own inside this picker to open the same creation dialog. After saving, select the new card to apply it; creating a Photography Style does not automatically select it for your image.

Generate an image and compare its lighting, palette and mood with your references. The saved direction remains available for the next product, so you can carry the same photographic brief forward without uploading the three references again.

Rename or change a Photography Style

In Styles on desktop, or Studio → Styles on mobile, use the pencil edit action on your custom Photography Style card. Update the fields or remove and replace reference images, then choose Save Changes. Keep exactly three reference images.

Changing Style Name or Description updates the label and description, not the extracted photographic direction. To change that direction, replace the relevant reference images and save; Nightjar analyzes the revised set. Both metadata edits and reference reanalysis use no Credits.

For a change that should apply only to the next image, add it to Custom Directions in Create rather than replacing the reusable reference set.
