Can a hex code or swatch make an AI recolor accurate?

A hex code gives an AI editor digital color direction, not colorimetric proof. The W3C defines hex notation as an sRGB color, so it does not describe pigment, finish, fabric, translucency, illumination, or viewing angle. Pantone also publishes different RGB and hex conversions for different measurement conditions, which is why a screen value cannot certify a Pantone or physical match (Pantone).

AI recoloring resynthesizes pixels rather than changing a locked paint layer. It can shift bright areas, shadows, texture, transparency, logos, small construction details, or the apparent material while changing the hue. A source photo and swatch reduce ambiguity, but neither proves the generated color matches the manufactured product.

How should I review and approve an AI product recolor?
