How do I create and use a Pose in Nightjar?

Choose a premade Pose or create one from a single photo in Poses on desktop, or Studio → Poses on mobile. Nightjar turns the reference's body arrangement into a neutral-figure card that you can reuse with a Fashion Model in Product Photography. The reference person's identity, face, and clothing do not become part of the Pose.

A saved Pose makes a specific arrangement of arms, legs, and body orientation a visual choice you can select again. Use Nightjar's Poses when you want that direction to carry across product images without describing the same limb positions each time; choose the Fashion Model separately to control who appears.

Choose a premade Pose

In Create, select the product or product photos, choose With model under Subject, and use Single shots for the output. On mobile, open Generate → Create. Select a Fashion Model, open Pose, then select a card from the library. Each card lists the Camera Distances it supports.

You can also browse Poses in the desktop sidebar, or Studio → Poses on mobile. Set Source to Premade to see Nightjar's curated choices, or My poses for your Team's custom Poses. Favorite useful cards to find them through Favorites only when selecting a Pose in Create.

Create a custom Pose from one photo

Creating a Pose costs 1 Credit when Nightjar saves the new neutral-figure card. Renaming it or changing its supported distances later is free. Generating product images with the saved Pose is a separate action with its own Credit cost.

1. Open Poses in the desktop sidebar, or Studio → Poses on mobile, and select New pose.
2. Enter a Pose Name you will recognize, such as “Leaning on wall.”
3. Under Reference Photo, upload one image or select one existing image from your Library. Use a photo only when you have the right to upload and process it; converting the image into a neutral Pose card does not clear rights in the original photo. This saved image is an Asset in Nightjar. Choose a reference that clearly shows the body parts and positions you want to reuse.
4. Select Create Pose and wait for extraction. Nightjar converts the reference to its neutral figure and proposes the Camera Distances that work with the Pose.
5. Review the card and description. Under Works At, keep or adjust Close-up, Medium, and Full body. A Pose must support at least one distance. Select Done to finish the review.

The Pose has already been created when its review card appears. Works At changes which distances are available for future use; it does not redraw the figure or change the body arrangement.

Pose creation is processed as an Operation, separate from an image Generation. Once started, it cannot be canceled. If creation fails, Nightjar releases the reserved Credit rather than charging for a completed Pose. If the card shows the wrong arrangement, use a clearer reference to create another Pose; that new creation has its own Credit charge.

Use the Pose with a Fashion Model

Return to Create (Generate → Create on mobile), choose With model and Single shots, and select your Fashion Model and saved Pose. Choose an available Camera Distance, then set the photographic look, background, and output options before generating.

These choices control different parts of the photograph:

The selected Pose limits Camera Distance to its supported choices. Product compatibility can narrow those choices further. Close-up follows where the product is worn: a ring can frame the hand and footwear can frame the feet, so the Fashion Model's face may intentionally be outside the image.

For example, you could reuse a hand-near-face Pose with another Fashion Model while keeping the same Photography Style. The body direction stays selected independently of the person and photographic look.

If Pose is missing, check that Subject is With model and Output is Single shots. Photoshoot varies pose, angle, crop, and detail across its image set, so it does not apply a fixed Pose or Camera Distance. If a saved Pose is missing from the picker, clear the search and turn off Favorites only.

Rename, favorite, or delete a Pose

In Poses on desktop, or Studio → Poses on mobile, use the card's favorite control to keep frequently used choices easy to find. For a custom Pose, select the pencil control to change its Pose Name or Works At distances, then select Save Changes. The edit dialog does not replace the reference photo or regenerate the card.

Custom Poses are shared with your Team. Premade Poses can be selected and favorited, but their edit and delete controls are not available.

To remove a custom Pose, use its delete control and confirm Delete. It will no longer be available for future selection and cannot be restored through Nightjar. Existing generated Assets retain their pose history.
