How do I save and apply a Recipe in Nightjar?

In Nightjar's Create tab, configure your Product Photography setup, choose Save as recipe, enter a name, and select Save. To reuse it, select the Recipe's name above the form or from the Recipes menu. Nightjar applies the saved photography direction while keeping your currently selected Products and Additional Photos.

A Recipe saves the decisions you want to repeat, so you or a teammate can photograph the next Product without rebuilding the brief. Products remember what you are photographing; Recipes remember how you photograph it.

Save a Recipe

1. Open Create (Generate → Create on mobile) and select a Product or add an Additional photo to reveal the photography controls.
2. Configure the direction you want to reuse. Choose Product only or With model, then set the photographic look, background, applicable arrangement controls, and any Custom Directions.
3. Check the output settings. Use Single shots if you want to set a repeatable image count and fixed Framing or Pose for later single-shot work.
4. Choose Save as recipe beneath the generation button. Enter a recognizable name, such as “Square catalog,” and select Save.

You do not need to generate an image before saving. If saving is unavailable after choosing a Scene background, finish selecting the scene first. Names must be nonempty and no longer than 60 characters.

What does a Recipe save?

A Recipe saves the supported Create choices for photographic direction and delivery:

Recipes exclude Products, Additional Photos, generated images, and the Single shots/Photoshoot choice. For example, a square catalog Recipe can retain the same lighting direction, white background, and output format when you switch from one bag Product to another. The second bag supplies its own photos.

Apply or turn off a Recipe

Select a saved Recipe's name to load its settings. You can apply it before choosing a Product, or after selecting the subjects for the next image. Applying replaces the saved fields in the form, including clearing a previous choice when the Recipe has none; it does not combine two Recipes.

Review the applied direction, choose Single shots or Photoshoot for the current job, and start generation when ready. Applying a Recipe does not generate images automatically. Photoshoot varies camera decisions across a four-image set, so saved Framing, Shadow, Pose, Camera Distance, and single-shot image count do not control that set.

To turn off a Recipe while its name is selected, select it again. This resets the photography and delivery fields to their defaults while retaining your Products and Additional Photos. It does not restore the settings you had before applying the Recipe.

You can adjust the form after applying a Recipe without changing the saved version. To keep the adjusted setup, use Save as recipe with a new name.

Rename, delete, and share Recipes

Open the three-dot actions menu beside a Recipe's name. Choose Rename, enter the new name, and confirm; or choose Delete and confirm deletion. Deleting a Recipe cannot be undone.

Recipes belong to the active Team. Other members of that Team can use and manage them, so a colleague can start from the same setup without re-entering its settings. If a Recipe seems missing, check that you are in the Team where it was saved. A Team can keep up to 100 active Recipes; delete an unused one before saving another at the limit.

What if a saved choice is unavailable?

If a referenced Photography Style, Background, Pose, or Fashion Model is no longer available, Nightjar applies the Recipe without that ingredient and shows which item was omitted. Select a replacement before generating if that choice matters to the shot.

If the Team cannot use a saved custom image count, Nightjar applies the supported default of two images for Single shots. Check the visible count and output choice before generating, especially when reusing a Recipe after a Subscription change.
